SUMMARY: Hò mái nhì, the tune born from the poetic Hương river, is the most typical Hò tune of the Hò Huế (Huế chanty). This article introduces the three-part original structure of the Hò mái nhì tune, with the leading of the Hò cái performer and accompaniment of the Hò con performers. Nowadays, the original structure of the Hò tune is in the risk of falling into oblivion due to the popularity of new-style Hò mái nhì tune in the Huế ensemble. In this article, the author has a desire to preserve and popularize both the original Hò mái nhì tune and new-style Hò mái nhì tune. Thanks to that we can both preserve the ancient and traditional sources, and maintain the diversity of the Hò mái nhì tune in diverse performance environments.
