About Quan họ Bắc Ninh folk songs having their composers’ name
TỀ VÂN
SUMMARY: Quan họ singing is a traditional music genre that was created by the working people and has been handed down to current days. Most Quan họ folk songs were written by anonymous writers. However, in this article, the writer Tề Vân after his studies assumes that some Quan họ folk songs have their own origin. According to his statistics, there are more than seven hundred Quan họ folk songs composed in Bắc Ninh (including the ones which have been collected and edited), for example the Quan họ folk songs entitled “Đường trường bắn thước” (On the road shooting the magpies), “Đường trường trên non” (Path on the mountains), etc. were written by the old man Mr. Nguyễn Đức Sôi. In his opinion, these songs themselves have enriched the Quan họ repertoires and are so popular that they become the communities’ assets and few people know who actually wrote them.
